Node Explorer

Node leads the way in location based media, providing a multi media solution for enhancing indoor and outdoor environments.

The Node Explorer is a small, robust hand held computer with global positioning satellite technology built in, triggers content playback dependent on the visitor's position and direction.

Acute Technology was part of a virtual team designing the Explorer and putting it into production. We helped in particular with:

• Circuit design, including the design of the AMD Alchemy Au1200 processor and battery power supply circuits.
• PCB Design and prototype manufacture.
• Locating and supporting the embedded software development house.
• Collaborating with the software team, on site, during the commissioning of the first prototypes, so that adjustments to device drivers could be made and debugged quickly.
• Providing technical documentation for other members of the engineering team.
• Embedded Linux development, including 802.11 WiFi device drivers, display device drivers and flash file systems.
• GPS navigation system: analytical software and RF investigations.
• EMC testing.
